Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers a Master of Business Administration program with two sessions each year, in January and July. 

It’s a two-year program divided into four semesters that cover all the business aspects. The MBA course is designed for undergraduate students and working professionals who want to graduate with a management degree.  

The MBA course offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University is quite affordable compared to the fees of other private universities. It offers up-to-date study material and teaches both practical and theoretical knowledge.

IGNOU started admission to the MBA course for the July session on 10 June 2025. To be eligible for this course, the candidate must have graduated from a recognised university with a minimum of 50% marks in their undergraduate examinations. As the candidate is eligible, they have to pay 64,000 for their Online MBA course fee. 

Note: IGNOU will soon start the admission process for their July 2025 session Online MBA course on 10 June 2025. You can fill out the admission form from the official portal @ignouiop.samarth.edu.in. The last date for admission for the IGNOU Online MBA 2025 program is 10 July 2025. After that, no admission will be taken.

The online MBA from IGNOU offers eight specialisations, each designed for a specific industry. This postgraduate program is two years long and divided into four semesters. IGNOU MBA Admission 2025 July Session

The last date for IGNOU Online MBA admission for the July 2025 academic session is 10 July 2025. Indira Gandhi National Open University will begin the admission form-filling process for its MBA course in July 2025, covering all specialisations such as Finance, Human Resource Management, Operations Management, International Business, and more.

IGNOU give admission based on merit list and they don’t conduct any entrance examination for their online mba course. You must have graduated from any recognised university with a minimum of 50% marks. You can fill out the admission form from the official portal @ignouiop.smarth.edu.in for online MBA.

IGNOU Online MBA Eligibility Criteria

Students or working professionals who plan to apply for admission to an online MBA program must meet the IGNOU eligibility criteria. 

  • An applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in any specialisation with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. (45% required for reserved category).
  • No entrance test or OPENMAT required for admission.
  • There will be no age limit for admission to this course.

Payment Mode for Paying the IGNOU Online MBA Fee

You can pay your IGNOU Online MBA admission fee via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, UPI, or NEFT/RTGS. Among all, UPI or QR code is considered the fastest and safest because no card details are required.

Process for Paying the IGNOU Online MBA Fee

To begin, go to the official IGNOU website and scroll down to the “Student Section.” There, you will find the option titled “Online Payment for Miscellaneous Fees.” Click on it, and a new page will open where you will see the link to “Online Payment of Miscellaneous Fee (SBI Collect).” 

Remember, you should only use SBI Collect for these transactions because it allows you to track your payment history and reprint receipts when needed.

Once the SBI Collect form opens, you don’t need to select the institution as it fills automatically. You simply need to enter your Enrollment Number, Name, Father’s Name, Program, Mobile Number, and most importantly, select the purpose of the payment. 

The portal offers a variety of options, such as 

  • Change of Medium
  • Name Correction
  • Course Change
  • Elective Change
  • Credit Transfer
  • Migration Certificate 
  • Duplicate Grade Card
  • Transcript
  • Degree/Diploma/Certificate Fees
  • Study Material (MPDD)

If your reason isn’t listed, choose “Other” and mention the purpose clearly in the “Remarks” section.

For example, if you want to change your elective subject, you will need to pay based on the credit value of the new subject. Credits can be 2, 4, 6, 8, or even 16, and the fee is calculated accordingly. 

You can check the credit value of each subject in the Common Prospectus, available on the IGNOU website. For most other services, the fee is fixed.

For instance, name correction may cost ₹500 or ₹1500, depending on the case, credit transfer usually costs ₹300–₹500, and a duplicate mark sheet fee is ₹200.

After filling in all the required information, including your name, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID, agree to the terms and fill in the captcha. Then, review all the details again before clicking on “Next.” Don’t press “Reset” as it will clear your form, and you’ll have to start over. 

On the next screen, you’ll see a summary of your payment, including the Enrollment Number, Name, Purpose of Payment, Fee Amount, and any Remarks you added (for example: “I want to change my elective from MPC-16 to MPC-46”).

You will now be redirected to the payment gateway. You can choose from Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, UPI, or NEFT/RTGS. Among all, UPI or QR Code is considered the fastest and safest because no card details are required. 

After completing your payment, you will receive a Reference Number (SBI Collect Reference ID). Keep this number safe as it will help you track or re-download your receipt anytime.

If your receipt does not generate immediately or the server times out, don’t worry. Go back to the SBI Collect page on the IGNOU site and click on Transaction History. You can reprint your receipt by entering your Reference Number or your registered mobile number and verifying with an OTP.

Once you have your receipt, you can submit it along with your application form to the Regional Center or attach it online while raising a query on the IGNOU I-Gram Portal. You don’t need to visit any bank or centre physically. 

Just draft a simple application or send the receipt via email. You can also go to the I-Gram Portal (IGNOU’s online support system) and attach your receipt as a supporting document to your complaint or query. This process speeds up the resolution.

Documents Required for IGNOU MBA Admission

Before applying for admission, the interested students must arrange the following documents: 

  • Applicants must have their passport-size colour photo. 
  • Certificate proof of your name, age and date of birth.
  • Applicants submit their academic qualification certificates.
  • The signature should be signed with a blue or black pen.
  • For reserved category applicants, submit their certificate or BPL certificate (if applicable).

Note: The passport size photograph and signature size must not be more than 100kb in size, and the documents should be under 200 kb in size.

IGNOU Online MBA Admission Process

To begin, visit the IGNOU admission portal (link usually provided on their official website). Please note that the last date to apply is 30th June 2025, although this deadline might be extended. Before applying, make sure you have a DBI ID, this is mandatory. 

Without it, you won’t be able to fill out the form. Also, use your own mobile number and email ID while applying to receive updates and alerts. It’s important to review the program details in advance. You can do this by clicking on “Program Information” on the portal.

To start the application, click on “Click Here for New Registration”. You’ll need to fill out basic details like a unique username (for example, your name + last 4 digits of your phone number), full name (as per official documents), email ID, mobile number, and password. 

Complete the CAPTCHA and click Register. After registration, log in using your newly created credentials. Now, follow these nine steps to complete your IGNOU Online MBA application form:

Step 1: Personal Details

Fill in your name, mother’s name, and guardian’s name (father, mother, or husband). Enter your date of birth, category (General/SC/ST/OBC), and income details if applicable. Also, mention your religion, marital status, employment status, disability status (if any), and whether you fall under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.

Step 2: DBI ID Entry

Enter your DBI ID and verify your details, like name and date of birth, before moving forward.

Step 3: Program Selection

Choose Master’s as your academic level under the Online mode and select MBA. 

Step 4: Subject Selection

Select both the compulsory and optional subjects as per your chosen program.

Step 5: Regional Centre & Study Centre

Choose the nearest Regional Centre and select the affiliated study centre (college) where you’ll receive academic support.

Step 6: Medium of Instruction

Choose your preferred medium of study, either English or Hindi.

Step 7: Educational Qualification

Enter your academic qualifications including 10th, 12th, and graduation details if applicable. Upload the respective marksheets in PDF or image format (10KB–200KB).

Step 8: Address Details

Fill in your correct and current address, as your study material will be sent here.

Step 9: Document Upload

Upload a recent passport-size photo (10–100KB, JPG/JPEG), your signature, 10th & 12th marksheets, caste certificate (if you belong to SC/ST/OBC), income certificate (if you’re applying for a fee waiver), and your Aadhaar card (mandatory).

Once all documents are uploaded, review your application carefully. Make sure there are no errors before submission. Now comes the Payment Process. The total fee, including registration and program fees, will be displayed (for example, ₹15,500 + ₹500 registration fee). 

You can make the payment using any of the following methods credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI (by scanning the QR code). After successful payment, make sure to download and save the Payment Receipt.

To print your application form and check your admission status, log in again to the portal. Go to “My Application” and select “Print Application Form.” The admission status will generally be updated within 15–20 days. Once your admission is confirmed, you’ll receive your Enrollment Number.

Finally, you can download your IGNOU ID Card from the portal. Use your enrollment number as the password to access it. Make sure to print and laminate your ID card for future use during exams and official tasks.

IGNOU MBA Exam Form Submission For June TEE

The fee payment period for examinations runs from March 2025 to  April 2025 (online, extended). For students admitted up to the December admission cycle, the prescribed fee is Rs. 200/- per course, applicable to both theory courses and practical/lab courses. 

For students admitted from the January 2023 cycle onwards, the fees are structured as follows: a Rs. 200/- examination fee per theory course. Practical fees are Rs. 300/- per course for practicals up to 4 credits, and Rs. 500/- per course for practicals above 4 credits. 

Project fees are similarly Rs. 300/- per course for projects up to 4 credits and Rs. 500/- per course for projects above 4 credits. The late fee structure remains unchanged during this initial period. A late payment window operates from 29th April to 4th May (online).

Since it’s an open university, some people doubt whether IGNOU offers placements for MBA graduates. Yes, they do. IGNOU offer placement support for its Online/ODL MBA students through its on-campus placement cell. 

The university organises placement drives at regional centres and notifies students via SMS. It has tie-ups with major companies like Axis Bank, HDFC, TCS, Wipro, and AIR India.

In 2024, IGNOU collaborated with firms like GLOBIVA and ARCIS, offering roles such as Backend Executive and Customer Service Executive with salaries ranging from ₹2 LPA to ₹3.4 LPA

Some students secured higher packages, with the highest being ₹15 LPA. While placements are available, students should also actively network and apply off-campus for better opportunities.
